The trade was set to send Crosby to Baltimore in exchange for two first-round draft picks. However, the Ravens backed out after concerns arose from Crosby’s recent physical examination, which revealed issues with his knee.
Crosby, who is 28 years old, underwent surgery in January to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee and missed the final two games of the 2025 season due to this injury. Despite these setbacks, he had a strong performance last season, recording 10 sacks and a career-high 28 tackles for loss.
“Maxx continues to be on track in his recovery and if anything is ahead of schedule according to his surgeon Dr. Neal El Attrache,” stated Crosby’s agent, CJ LaBoy. This statement highlights Crosby’s determination to return to form.
The Ravens’ defense struggled last season, finishing tied for 28th in the league with only 30 sacks. They were eager to bolster their roster with Crosby, who has accumulated 69.5 sacks and 133 tackles for loss during his seven seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders.
However, the Ravens’ doctors reviewed Crosby’s MRI and expressed concerns about the long-term prognosis of his knee, ultimately leading to the decision to withdraw from the trade.

Dr. Neal ElAttrache commented on the situation, stating, “The timing of this assessment is unfortunate because the apparent risk will lessen as his recovery progresses and his return to performance over the next few months becomes clear.” This indicates that Crosby’s situation may improve as he continues to heal.
