Solde carte crédit desjardins petition: What is the about?

Previously, users of the Desjardins AccèsD app enjoyed real-time updates of their credit card balances, allowing them to see immediate changes after making payments. This feature was particularly valued by those who wanted to manage their finances effectively and avoid overspending.

However, a recent change has disrupted this expectation. As of March 24, 2026, Desjardins altered the display of credit card balances on the AccèsD app, removing real-time updates. The new system introduces a delay of 24 to 48 hours for balance updates, which has sparked significant backlash from users.

In response to this change, a petition was initiated demanding the return of the real-time balance display. By Tuesday, the petition had garnered over 9,000 signatures, reflecting widespread dissatisfaction among users. The movement gained momentum, particularly on social media platforms like TikTok, where related videos have amassed between 325,000 and 330,000 views.

Jean-Benoît Turcotti, a spokesperson for Desjardins, explained that the new system is a result of a migration to a new processing system, which does not allow for the previous display of balances. He stated, “We must transfer credit card processing to a new system, based on industry components that we cannot modify. We therefore cannot return to the previous display.”

The new display method excludes pending transactions and only shows officially billed amounts, which has left many users frustrated. As one user, Audrey-Anne Simard, expressed, “When I pay my credit card, I want to see the balance at 0 right away, I don’t want to wait 24 hours — we’re not in 1900.”

Turcotti also noted that this issue is not unique to Desjardins, stating, “C’est aussi le cas pour la plupart des autres institutions financières au Canada.” This suggests that many financial institutions are facing similar challenges in updating their systems.

The change in balance display followed a switch of technology provider, which Desjardins claims it cannot alter. The implications of this shift are significant, as users now face potential confusion and increased risks of overspending due to the lack of immediate balance visibility.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding whether Desjardins will consider the petition’s demands or if any adjustments to the new system will be made in response to user feedback.
