Golden knights vs penguins: Penguins Dominate Golden Knights in 5-0 Victory

PITTSBURGH — Bryan Rust, Ben Kindel, and Justin Brazeau each contributed a goal and an assist, leading the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 5-0 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday.

Pittsburgh enhanced its record to 10-1-3 over the last 14 matches, with goals from Rickard Rakell and Egor Chinakhov. Erik Karlsson contributed two assists, while Arturs Silovs achieved his first shutout since the season opener on October 7 against the New York Rangers, making 22 saves.

Adin Hill, the goaltender for Vegas, made 17 saves. The Golden Knights fell to a record of 4-7-2 over their past 13 matches.

Vegas captain Mark Stone exited late in the first period due to an unspecified injury. Penguins defenseman Kris Letang appeared to deliver a relatively innocuous shove to Stone’s left arm with his stick in the neutral zone, but it might have struck him in the vulnerable area between his elbow and shoulder pads. Stone winced in discomfort, dropped to one knee, and skated off the ice.

Kindel, selected in the first round of the 2025 draft and set to turn 19 on April 19, netted his 15th goal with 5:04 remaining in the opening period.

The Penguins took charge by netting three additional goals in the second period. Both Rust and Rakell found the back of the net during the power play.

Brazeau increased the score to 5-0 with just 5:01 remaining in the third period. This marked Brazeau’s 16th goal of the season, setting a new personal best.

Coming up

On Tuesday evening, both teams will compete once more. The Golden Knights will take on Buffalo, while the Penguins face off against Boston.
