Air India is making significant strides in enhancing its fleet, with plans to invest over $400 million in refreshing the interiors of its Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft. The airline aims to reconfigure all 13 of its Boeing 777-300ERs by October 2028, with the first reconfigured aircraft expected to enter service by early 2027.

Air India has also been leasing six former Delta Air Lines Boeing 777-200LRs and six former Etihad Airways Boeing 777-300ERs, further expanding its operational capabilities. These aircraft will complement the airline’s existing fleet as it undergoes these significant upgrades.
Historically, Air India was privatized by the Tata Group in late 2021, marking a new chapter for the airline as it seeks to modernize its fleet and improve service quality. The investment in the Boeing 777 and 787 interiors is part of a broader strategy to revitalize the brand and enhance competitiveness in the aviation market.
