“Safety and clear communications will be priorities for the TTC during this time,” a spokesperson from the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) stated, emphasizing the importance of efficient transit during the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026.

BMO Field, located in Toronto, Canada, will play a significant role in the tournament, hosting six matches. Notably, the venue will be temporarily renamed “Toronto Stadium” for the duration of the event. Canada’s opening match is scheduled for June 12, 2026, marking a historic moment for the nation.

Toronto is one of 16 host cities for this prestigious tournament, which will showcase teams from around the world. Fans are eagerly anticipating the excitement that BMO Field will bring, especially as AFC Toronto prepares to face Halifax in their home opener on May 3.

In preparation for the influx of visitors, the TTC plans to enhance its services across all modes of transit. From June 7 to July 24, streetcar service on the 509 Harbourfront and 511 Bathurst routes will be increased to every five minutes during peak hours.

On match days, the Fleet Street Transit Hub will serve as the dedicated streetcar platform for pickups and drop-offs, ensuring smooth transportation for fans attending the games. Additionally, the 29/929 Dufferin bus will see increased service on match days and weekends.

Subway services on Lines 1 and 2 will also be bolstered on match days, further facilitating access to BMO Field. This comprehensive transit strategy aims to accommodate the expected surge of soccer enthusiasts.
