Nipawin council has approved the location of a cannabis shop in town.
At the towns regular council meeting this week, they gave discretionary approval for a location for the cannabis permit holder in town.
According to CAO Barry Elliot, the store will be located adjacent to the liquor store a vacant property in the downtown core.
“We have a fairly compact downtown core and we do have some uses that maybe aren’t traditional in other downtown cores such as daycares but that’s where we are and this worked out well,” said Elliot.
The restrictions were that the store had to be at least 50 metres away from select services.
It is unknown if the cannabis store will be open for October 17th which is the Canada-wide legalization date.
Council also gave final approval to have a gymnastics facility in town.
