It’s sure to be an emotional night at the Elgar Petersen Arena in Humboldt tonight.

It’s the first regular season game for the Humboldt Broncos since the deadly bus crash on April 6th that took 16 lives.

The Broncos will welcome the Nipawin Hawks, the same team they were headed to play in last years SJHL Semi-Finals when the bus hit a transport trailer at the Armley Corner.

Less than 48 hours prior to the crash, it was one of the greatest games in SJHL History as the Broncos and Hawks fought in a triple overtime thriller in game 4 of their playoff series.

Just two players who were involved in April’s crash will be on the ice tonight.

Both Brayden Camrud, and Derek Patter will dawn the Broncos uniform, and wear A’s as assistant captains.

There will not be a ceremony pre-game tonight, instead it will be held after the game.

The matchup will also be broadcast live on TSN.

The rest of the SJHL kicks off on Friday, while Melfort must wait until Saturday.
