Saskatchewan’s Agriculture Minister is stepping away from his post to focus on his health.

Lyle Stewart says he was recently diagnosed with colorectal cancer and will be undergoing several months of treatment.

Stewart was first elected in 1999, and has been Agriculture Minister since 2012.

Premier Scott Moe says he expects to name a new Ag Minister next week, and Stewart will remain in the post until that time.

He will remain as MLA for Lumsden-Morse.
