A man has been tasered in Saskatoon after he tried to disarm an officer while in custody.

At the SPS Detention Centre yesterday morning, officers were transferring a man in custody from his cell to an area where he was set to appear before a Justice of the Peace.

The suspect lunged at the officer and attempted to grab his gun.

An altercation occurred before a second officer tasered the suspect who was then placed in handcuffs, and taken to hospital as a precaution.

The 31 year old is now charged with Assaulting an officer, and attempting to disarm an officer.

The officers were not injured.
