Bail granted for trucker charged in Humboldt Broncos bus crash

The driver of the semi-truck that collided with the Humboldt Broncos bus will be back in court in August.

29 year-old Jaskirat Sidhu was in Melfort Provincial Court this morning and has been released on bail with strict conditions.

Sidhu’s release will come with a $1,000 cash recognizance, he will also not be able to operate a vehicle, and only live at his residence in Calgary.  The man is also forced to surrender his passport.

The man faces 16 counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, and 13 counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily injury.

The Broncos were en route to Nipawin for a playoff game against the Hawks April 6th when the collision happened at the Armley corner.

Sidhu will return to Melfort court on August 21st for defense election.
