The Tisdale Kinette group is very close to opening their skate park in the community.
They are hoping that phase one will be complete by the end of this week.
Kinette member Mandy Russel said they have some fundraising to do before they get to the next two phases.
“We are looking for about $25,000 now for phase two, which will just be adding another line to the park, for phase three we would like to put in a pump track in a couple years and that’s about $40,000 to $50,000 piece to put in,” Russel explained.
The skate park will be open to the public once the first phase is completed.
Russel said their beat the deck fundraiser raised around $4,000 for the project that has been in the planning stages for over three years.
Last week, Tisdale Rockin’ the Square donated $10,000 to the project.
The park has been name Rae’s Action Sport park after Raelene Franklin who Russel said is an important member of the community.
“She has been an avid volunteer in our community and a wonderful role model for our youth.”
Russel is hoping to organize a skate board and scooter competition to work as another fundraiser for the park.
