The Melfort Fire Department is making a second equipment donation to Firefighters Without Borders.
The Vancouver-based organization accepts old firefighting gear and transports it to countries with little firefighting capabilities.
Fire Chief Paul See says “some of it is still in good shape, but it has a lifespan on it so that’s an issue with our occupational health and safety standards here.”
He adds “it’s great that another country can get a use out of it.”
Dominican Republic, Mexico, the Phillipines, and Ukraine are some of the countries that have benefited from the program.
