A special air quality statement has been issued for Saskatoon and Regina.

Environment Canada says stagnant winds under a ridge of high pressure are creating elevated pollution levels over the two cities.

Exposure to air pollution should be avoided by children, the elderly, and those with underlying medical conditions such as lung or heart disease.

Saskatoon and Regina are at a 7 which is high risk.

Air quality is expected to improve Tuesday as a westerly flow comes into the affected areas.
