Extremely cold wind chills can be expected over the next few days in the region.

Wind chill values around minus 40 have prompted extreme cold warnings for a large portion of the province excluding the north.

Those planning to be outdoors are being reminded to dress in layers since exposed skin can freeze within minutes.

Pets need to be kept inside in the extreme cold as well.

The warnings are in effect for Melfort, Tisdale, Nipawin, Carrot River, Hudson Bay, Humboldt and Prince Albert today.
