A Lake Lenore resident is hoping to add Melfort MLA to his resume.
Scott Lessmeister is the North American Sales Manager at Bourgault in St. Brieux and is in the running for the seat that was vacated in November after the passing of Kevin Phillips.
Lessmeister served on Lake Lenore town council for 16 years, and was mayor for 7 years.
He said he strongly believes in community involvement, “some of the projects I was able to move forward in the community such as rebuilding highway 368, which resulted in a $25 million infrastructure investment by the provincial government and that has really benefited not only St. Brieux and Lake Lenore, but the entire region.”
Lessmeister has 25 years of experience in the agriculture and manufacturing industries as well.
Provincial politics is something that Lessmeister said has always been in the back of his mind.
“I always said to myself that if the right opportunity presented itself at the right time that I would take a shot at it, so for me right now this opportunity really couldn’t come at a better time,” he explained. “My kids are both away at university so I’ve go the time to commit to it and I’ve always felt that it’s very important for good people to step up for public office.”
Lessmeister hosted a meet and greet on Wednesday night in St. Brieux and will meet with the public again Friday at the Kerry Vickar Centre at 7pm.
