As the Melfort SaskParty nomination draws near, meet and greets are being held by the candidates who hope to become the voice of the constituency.

Louise Schweitzer will speak with the public Thursday night in Naicam and on Monday night here in Melfort.

Schweitzer said she has done extensive work here in Melfort with Northeast Outreach Support Services.

“I’ve been the Executive Director there since 2009, and worked through the process of writing the proposal, lobbying it through the gvernment, and having be awarded dollars for the domestic violence shelter so we started the build in 2014,” explained Schweitzer. “We have now grown that organization to over 50 plus staff.”

Her experience also includes work in agriculture, and she has also worked in healthcare, administration and in finance.

Schweitzer said she has always had an interest in the government and put her name forward in a by-election in 2014 but was unsuccessful at that time.

“Truly what I believe is my job as the MLA would be to be the voice of the people, I work for the people of this constituency and to take that forward very seriously to ensure their concerns are brought forward to the province,” Schweitzer explained.

Her meet and greet tonight is in Naicam at the RM of Pleasantdale office at 7pm, a second meet and greet will be held on Monday night at the Kerry Vickar Centre.

Also in the running is Todd Goudy, Scott Lessmeister, and Tim Hoenmans.
