The city of Melfort was busy in 2017.

Mayor Rick Lang says “the biggest news of 2017 was the Wellness Centre grand opening that happened on December the 5th, so it’s a great new service delivery facility that’s attached to the hospital, and to be honest, the deal was sealed more with the participation of the surrounding communities and the rural municipalities, in cooperation with the Kelsey Trail Health region, and of course all of the doctors mad financial commitments as well.”

The city also started their Spruce Haven improvements, highlighted by the skateboard park and they invested 125 thousand dollars into the Northern Lights Palace.

Lang also mentioned that the city got a new ladder truck for the fire department, and a new hot patch machine for potholes.

He says the city will be investing 650 thousand dollars into sidewalk replacement in 2018.
