The new Buy Low Foods store in Tisdale opened on Friday morning becoming the first Buy Low in Saskatchewan.
Mayor of Tisdale Al Jellicoe explained the process of bringing the store here.
“Sean(Development Manager) and I actually ended up out in Vancouver a year ago, and they made the announcement February 28th, started March 1st and it’s been great for the town and for the whole northeast.”
He says this addresses two of the main issues citizens had which was part time jobs for students, and grocery choice.
Jellicoe said the new store will create 80 new jobs.
President of Buy Low Foods Dan Bregg says Tisdale had to be the first place to bring one to the province, “my roots are Saskatchewan, my grandparents were from this area and I’ve been back a few times visiting family and it just feels like coming home.”
Bregg added that the Buy Low Foods people first attitude will separate them from the rest.
The Buy Low wasn’t the only new opening in Tisdale on Friday as the Tim Hortons began business as well.
