Some rule changes in the CFL today.

The league is eliminating full-contact padded practices during the season as well as extending the schedule to 21 weeks.

The idea behind the changes is to reduce the risk of injury.

The change regarding padded practices will take effect immediately while the schedule change will come into play next season.

Teams will now have 3 bye weeks instead of 2 with the change.
